I have been a psychotherapist for over twenty-five years helping couples, families, individuals and young adults navigate life’s challenges and sort out their life path, purpose, spirituality and relationships.

My style is straightforward and interactive, and my goal is to have my clients leave therapy as quickly as possible with tools, behaviors, and insight that they can use for the rest of their lives. I approach each client individually but see each person through a multidimensional lens which takes into account the situation that brings them to therapy, their history, physical symptoms, coping skills, emotional symptoms, brain chemistry, relationships and developmental history.

I make use of EMDR in individual and couples work for those who suffer from simple and complex PTSD and attachment trauma. I find that this approach catapults healing, self-compassion, mutual understanding and compassion in the case of relationship counseling and speeds the therapy process significantly.

Expertise

My expertise ranges from treatment for trauma and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) often using EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing – very effective in treating trauma), to post-partum depression, couples therapy, parenting, individual therapy, adult children of narcissists/relationships with narcissists and mind/body connection awareness.

Education

I attended University of California at Santa Cruz and San Francisco State University as an undergraduate. I hold a masters in clinical psychology from New College of California and a PhD in psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology/Alliant International University, and a masters in English/creative writing from San Francisco State University. My clinical training was in a variety of settings including Mount Zion Crisis Clinic, San Francisco City College and Bay Area Family Service Agencies and Women’s Health Clinic in Marin County.
